The Maine Small Business Coalition (MSBC), an organization representing more than 3,500 community-based business owners in Maine, today announced the hiring of Will Ikard of Newcastle as its new director.

Ikard, a licensed attorney with more than a decade of advocacy expertise as well as experience starting and running his own small business, will manage day-to-day operations for MSBC and be a standard-bearer for policies that promote responsible economic development, environmental stewardship, and investment in community.

"We're thrilled to have someone with Will's skill and enthusiasm join our team," said Sharon Peralta, MSBC Steering Committee Member and owner of Custom Computer Services in Springvale. "With Will's leadership, MSBC will provide an even stronger voice for small business owners whose values and desires are, far too often, drowned out by the power and influence of our large, corporate competitors."

While attending law school at the University of Texas, Ikard founded a digital consulting firm, which continues to serve political and non-profit clients throughout the Southwest. Ikard has worked for a number of campaigns and causes and most recently served as an organizer for the Coalition to Rebuild Maine's Middle Class.
